Chance Card Monopoly

A few years ago I read a book that used the board game monopoly in a real world setting. I went back into my book collection and found this book. When I started to think about what I had read it was true almost everything in the real world economy can be traced to ideas introduced in monopoly. Funny how buying real estate getting dividends and getting the odd chance card to pay someone was the secret to getting rich. I am re-reading this book and will try to apply some of the ideas into my life. I think I will also dig up the old monopoly board and practice my skills.

Overqualified

Overqualified a new word in job searching. I have been applying for work in the last few months and the awful word has come into my world. It is a new term job recruiters with all their power use to say hey you are not getting the job. When I googled this term it seems many people are starting to get the same word. So what I found is that these people in a position of power, have denied individuals the right to work and earn an income based on the fact that they know more then they should. I was happy to know am not the only one getting this feedback, but what am I suppose to do for more income? Do I have to make myself look dumb on my resume. Will that lead people to say I am underqualified. I would like to know what my fellow overqualified readers would do to remove this term from being used.

The Secret

As a highly motivated person, I try to read books and listen to anything that can spark new ideas and keep me going. I have been hearing alot about The Secret a new spin on an old idea. I found that it a was a refreshing program and could help many people to improve certain aspects of their lives. The DVD version is an easy to understand quick visual tour of the ideas in The Secret. This DVD and the book version have been featured on Oprah and many other television shows. If you have a chance order a copy of The Secret it is money well spent.

Transmeta Stock

New stock in my portfolio. I have been following the company for awhile now. This company makes and owns technology to improve performance and power consumption in electronic devices. The last few months has been tough for Transmeta as they cut their work force, and changed to a licensing company. The stock is at a low, but they do have many customers using their technology. I bought this stock as a hunch since they do have strong management and the price was right. I will hold the stock for the long run and if there is some major changes I will post my loss or gain.

All about the money!

This month I had to get some new checks from my bank. When I went to order the checks I found that they would cost me $23.00. I figured I better look around and see if there was anywhere else to get checks for less. I found that the Canadian supermarket chain by Loblaws has a bank named PC Financial. If you sign up for an account from them they will give you free checks and charge no fee's plus the savings account paid more interest then other banks. I went down to the supermarket and had an account set up the same day. Very easy no mess. They also allow me to use the same bank machines as CIBC one of the biggest banks in Canada. Overall this was a smart move that will save me money over the long term. The past year has been an eye opener as far as saving money goes. You can always save a few dollars here and there if you do some research.
